Watching us watching you - Our Cookie Policy

Introduction

By accessing and using our website; awningace.com, you are agreeing to the terms of this cookie policy. Please read this cookie policy carefully.

We may, from time to time, update this cookie policy and will post any changes on our website at www.awningace.com so it is good practice to come back occasionally and read through it again.

This cookie policy was last updated on 23rd May 2018.

Awning Ace Limited have kept to a minimum the number and type of cookies used throughout our website, with only two shop critical instances:

PHPSESSID (Contains a PHP "session ID", expires when the browser is closed)

Session (Contains a PHP "session ID", can also contain an email address and encrypted password, expires after one year)

The "PHPSESSID" cookie is required so that our website can keep track of your progress through the site. Without it, every page would be treated as the first visit to the site, and anything added to the shopping basket would be instantly forgotten. Online shopping would, therefore, be impossible.

The "session" cookie is intended for our customer's convenience; we generate this cookie with a copy of the initial session ID so that you can be recognised as "returning" and the contents of your shopping basket will still be available. If, however, you choose to sign in with an email address and password, your login details are saved. This helps by keeping you logged in when returning (your password is, of course, encrypted). When you sign out from our website, your login details are removed from the cookie.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small files containing letters and numbers. These files are either stored in the memory of your computer or other devices such as mobile phones or tablet devices (these cookies are generally known as 'Session Cookies') or are placed on the hard drive of your device (generally known as 'Persistent Cookies').

Cookies are generated when you visit a website or other service that uses cookies. Cookies are commonly used to help the user’s browsing experience and provide more information about the user’s experience and interests. This information is generally used to make content and services more relevant and useful during future visits.

For more details about cookies and details of how to delete and disable cookies, you can visit www.aboutcookies.org.

How does Awning Ace use cookies?

Our website uses cookies to distinguish you from other users of our services and to provide increased functionality when you are using our services. This helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our websites and also allows us to improve our websites and our services.

Unless you have adjusted your browser settings to refuse cookies, our systems will issue cookies as soon you visit our websites or access other services. If you have switched off cookies then some of the functionality of our services may not be available to you.

The cookies that we use on our websites only collect anonymous information to optimise our services and do not collect personal information. Please note that not all the cookies on our sites are set by us. Please see the section below on third-party cookies.

Which third-party cookies does Awning Ace use on our website?

We use Google Analytics to collect information about how people use our site. We do this to make sure it meets users' needs and to understand how we could make improvements. Google Analytics stores information about which pages you visit, how long you are on the site, how you got here and what you click on. We do not collect or store personal information within these cookies that could be used to identify you. We do not allow Google to use or share our analytics data.

Google Analytics is a simple, easy-to-use tool that helps website owners measure how users interact with website content. As a user navigates between web pages, Google Analytics provides website owners JavaScript tags (libraries) to record information about the page a user has seen, for example, the URL of the page. The Google Analytics JavaScript libraries use HTTP Cookies to "remember" what a user has done on previous pages/interactions with the website.

We also use Comodo Cookies to secure and encrypt our web data. Comodo Inc. is recognised as one of the worlds most secure SSL certificate issuing companies. You may have noticed our website has a green browser bar with a padlock and HTTPS address. This secure website ensures you as a user of our site against data theft by encrypting all data submitted to us either using a contact form or placing an order. Comodo cookies are an essential part of this process.

When do these cookies expire?

Except for essential cookies, most of the cookies on www.awningace.com expire at the end of your current session on our website. However, some of our cookies have an extended lifespan which ranges from 1 day to 2 years.

Where can I find more information about cookies, and how do I turn cookies off or delete cookies?

Find out more about cookies including how to disable/enable and delete them at the following website www.aboutcookies.org.

You can block most cookies by activating the setting on your browser that allows you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) you may not be able to access all or parts of our sites, or you may experience reduced functionality when accessing certain services. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies as soon you visit our website.
